The sequel to the hit film The Hangover has set a new record for a comedy film at the US box office.
The film, starring Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis, earned $86.5m (£52.5m) over the weekend making it the biggest comedy movie debut ever.
Despite lukewarm reviews, it edged out animated sequel Kung Fu Panda 2, starring Jack Black and Angelina Jolie, into second place.
The Dreamworks film took $48m (£29.1m).
The fourth movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise made $39.3m (£23.8m) in its second week, and took its worldwide box office total to $623.7m (£378.7m) so far.
The comedy Bridesmaids, about a group of women preparing for their wedding day supporting roles, grossed $16m (£9.7m) in its third week of release.
The top five was rounded off by comic-book adventure Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh, which made $9m (£5.5m).

Hackers posted a fake story about dead American rapper Tupac Shakur on the website of US public broadcaster PBS.
The hoax on the site of the PBS NewsHour programme said Tupac was alive and well in New Zealand, but the story had been removed by Monday morning.
Tupac died in 1996 after being shot four times in Las Vegas.
A group claiming it was behind the hack had complained about last week’s PBS Frontline investigation into Julian Assange’s Wikileaks website.
The group, calling itself LulzSec, and The Lulz Boat on Twitter, claimed it had hacked the site

Lady Gaga has replaced Adele at the top of the UK chart after scoring the best first-week album sales of 2011 so far.
Her album Born This Way sold 215,000 copies in its first week – more than the rest of the top 10 put together.
Adele’s second album, 21, has slipped to number two after spending 16 of the last 21 weeks in the top spot.
The British soul singer is also in third place with her debut album 19.
Lady Gaga’s debut The Fame is also still selling well, at number seven.
The American star said: “I feel so honoured to have the highest first week sales in the UK this year.
I wrote the album’s first single Born This Way in Manchester because I was so inspired by the confidence and bravery characteristic of my fans.”
On the singles chart, US rapper Pitbull held on to the top spot for a second week with his debut single Give Me Everything featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer, according to the Official Charts Company.

US musician and poet Gil Scott-Heron, often called the Godfather of Rap, has died in a New York hospital aged 62.
The cause of his death is not clear, but he is believed to have become ill after returning from a visit to Europe.
Scott-Heron’s material spanned soul, jazz, blues and the spoken word. His 1970s work heavily influenced the US hip-hop and rap scenes.
His work had a strong political element – one of his most famous pieces was The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.
Scott-Heron’s friend Doris Nolan said the musician had died at St Luke’s Hospital on Friday afternoon.
Scott-Heron was born in Chicago in 1949 – the son of former football player in Britain – and grew up in Tennessee before moving to New York.
He had a long-running song-writing partnership with pianist and flautist Brian Jackson, who he met at Lincoln University.
The pioneering style he developed while working with Jackson, mixing minimalist percussion with poetry, meant Scott-Heron was often described as the godfather of rap.
But the artist himself rejected this title.

US actor Jeff Conaway, a star of the 70s musical Grease, has died aged 60.
Conaway played the swaggering teenager Kenickie, alongside John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. He also played Bobby in the comedy series Taxi.
His family decided to switch off his life-support machine after he had spent several days in an induced coma.
The actor had battled for years against drug and alcohol addiction, something that he blamed on pain from a lingering back injury.
He spoke openly about his addiction on the Celebrity Rehab reality show in 2008, his last TV appearance.
Conaway made his Broadway debut in 1960 at the age of 10 in the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama All the Way Home.
He got his big break with Grease in 1978, but also suffered a back injury during filming which led to an addiction to painkillers and other drugs.

Musicians including Carlos Santana and Herbie Hancock have criticised Grammy Award organisers for dropping categories from the annual show.
It was announced last month that at least 30 categories would be cut.
The musicians, who argue the changes were made without consulting Academy members, have delivered a letter of protest to the Recording Academy.
But president of the musical organisation, Neil Portnow said a members committee had been consulted.

Contemporary blues, Native American, Hawaiian, and Latin jazz are among the 31 categories that are being cut from the prestitgious awards show.
The musicians are calling for the categories to be reinstated, saying the reductions unfairly target ethnic music.

Teenage country singer Scotty McCreery has been crowned this year’s winner of American Idol.
The 17-year-old from Garner, North Carolina, beat fellow teenager Lauren Alaina, who had been been considered the favourite to win the show.
McCreery, a high-school student who also works part-time at a local grocery store, won over audiences with his trademark deep voice.
He is the first country music winner since Carrie Underwood won in 2005.
McCreery is also the fourth consecutive male contestant to win the competition
After being declared the winner, he said: “Never in my wildest dreams. I got to thank the Lord first. He got me here.”
During the finale he sang with country singer Tim McGraw, as well as singing what will become his first single, I Love You This Big.

According to a US report British pop star Cheryl Cole has been dropped from the judging panel of the US version of The X Factor.
Entertainment website TMZ said sources claimed producers were concerned the singer’s Newcastle accent was too strong for US audiences.
Cole’s UK publicist has refused to comment on the story.
Reports says Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who had been lined up to co-host will replace her.
After months of speculation, it was confirmed earlier this month that Cole had landed the coveted spot on the judging panel alongside former American Idol judge Paula Abdul, Antonio LA Reid and Simon Cowell.

Veteran talk show host Oprah Winfrey’s final programme has been broadcasted on Wednesday after 25 years on the air.
The 57-year-old, widely regarded as one of the world’s most influential women, pre-recorded the show on Tuesday.
The talk show queen was seen alone on stage, telling viewers how much they mean to her.
The finale follows a two-day special farewell show at the United Center in Chicago, which Madonna and Beyonce took part in.
Fans who watched Winfrey record the final show said she had tears in her eyes as she bid farewell one last time.
The Oprah Winfrey Show, which is syndicated in 145 countries, redefined the talk show genre and made Winfrey one of the most influential women in the US as well as the wealthiest black woman in the world.
The star, who recently relinquished her position as Forbes magazine’s most powerful celebrity to Lady Gaga, announced in November 2009 she would be leaving.
At the time she told audience members the final season would “knock your socks off.”
On her 25th and final series she was filmed dancing on stage with John Travolta and took an entire audience to film in Australia.
Other season highlights included interviews with President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, former President George W Bush and Michael Jackson’s family.
The double episodes filmed in front of 13,000 fans went out earlier this week and saw Tom Cruise, Aretha Franklin, Tom Hanks and Stevie Wonder pay tribute to the presenter.
In January, Winfrey launched her own TV network, which will offer round-the-clock lifestyle programmes.
The channel is called OWN, or the Oprah Winfrey Network and is a joint venture with the Discovery channels.

Rapper Eminem and teen star Justin Bieber were the big winners at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, taking home six prizes each.
Eminem, who was not at Sunday’s ceremony, won artist of the year, the night’s top prize.
Bieber thanked “everybody who helped me get out of my home town” at the event – the first televised BMAs since 2006.
Britain’s Taio Cruz won best single for Dynamite, while other winners included Katy Perry, U2 and Beyonce Knowles.
Eminem’s prizes included top artist and top male artist, while Bieber counted fan favourite and top new artist awards among his haul.
A star-studded ceremony, broadcast live on US TV, was opened by Britney Spears and Rihanna singing a remix of the latter’s hit S&M.
Other performers included Cee Lo Green, country star Keith Urban and Neil Diamond, who sang his 1969 hit Sweet Caroline after winning the icon award.
Beyonce was given the Millennium Award for her musical influence and was also recognised as a role model for women.
U2 won the top touring award for their 360 Degrees Tour.

Dannii Minogue is standing down as a judge on The X Factor.
The 39-year-old Australian singer quit the ITV talent contest just days before the new series is due to launch.
She put the decision down to a clash with her commitments as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent.
Her departure from X Factor fuels more speculation about the make-up of the panel, after the decision by Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole to appear as judges on the US version of the show.
Minogue joined the show in 2007 and mentored two winners, Matt Cardle and Leon Jackson.
She confirmed her decision to leave by posting a link through to the website mydaily.co.uk, for which she is a contributing editor, via her Twitter page.
She said: “I am so disappointed that I can’t be a part of The X Factor this year.
“I’m going to miss the show and the amazing team who work so incredibly hard on it.”
She added: “During discussions for me to return [to The X Factor] it became clear that unfortunately, this year, the X Factor audition dates in the UK clash with the live shows of Australia’s Got Talent during June and July.
“For this reason I am unable to return.”

Leo ratiba ya tamasha la 14 la ZIFF imetoka ikionyesha kuweko filamu 71 kutoka nchi 39 zitakazoonyeshwa katika siku 10 za tamasha. Pamoja na maonyesho ya filamu kutakuwepo vilevile warsha kubwa 8 zitakazofundisha utengenezaji wa filamu za dokumentari na pia ufundi wa kutumia kamera za HD.
Zaidi ya hayo kutakuwa pia na dhifa kadhaa pamoja na maonyesho ya filamu vijijini yanayodhaminiwa na The Cinema Mondial Tour ya Uholanzi. Filamu hizo pamoja na za ZIFF zitaonyeshwa katika vijiji visivyopungua 15 hapa Unguja na Pemba.

Lakini cha kuvutia zaidi ni kuweko kwa mpiga muziki maarufu Shaggy katika ZIFF. Mjamaika-Mmarekani huyu anajulikana zaidi kwa wimbo wake “It wasn’t Me” uliowakoroga vijana akionyesha utundu wake kimuziki.
“Kwa kweli mwaka huu najisikia sana mimi” alisema Dr Martin Mhando, mkurugenzi wa tamasha la ZIFF. “ Ukiacha Shaggy mwaka huu filamu itakayofungua dimba ni filamu inayohusu muziki na wanawake itokayo Canada/Uganda inayoitwa “Making The Band”. Filamu hii na kuja kwa Shaggy kutatimiza sherehe za Mwaka wa Umoja Wa Mataifa unaosherehekea mahusiano kati ya waafrika walio barani na wale walio nje ya Afrika. ZIFF inahimiza sana mahusiano hayo”
Kwa upande wa filamu, mkazo utakuwa juu ya filamu za dokumentari ambapo mtengenezaji mahiri Nick Broomfield wa Uingereza atakuwa mgeni mashuhuri wa ZIFF. Mtengenezaji huyu wa filamu inayojulikana sana ya “Biggie and Tupac” atakuja kufundisha akisaidiwa na watengeneza filamu wengine kama vile Donald Ravaud (Constant Gardner).
Filamu mpya itakayoonyeshwa mwaka huu ZIFF ni ile inayohusu maisha ya makamu wa rais Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad. Muasisi huyu wa amani na demokrasia hapa nchini anazungumzia maisha yake tangu utoto hadi leo.
Wageni wengine watakaokuja ni Oliver Mutukudzi toka Zimbabwe, anayejulikana kwa muziki wake wakuchezeka na kuliwaza. Filamu 6 zitaonyeshwa kwa mara ya kwanza duniani pamoja na filamu Taka Takata toka Afrika Kusini na The Rugged Priest toka Kenya. Filamu za Waaborijino wa Kiaustralia pia zitapewa umuhimu wa juu katika tamasha mwaka huu.
Itatarajiwa kuwa watu wasiopungua 45,000 watapita Ngome Kongwe katika siku hizo
10 za tamasha.
